Group like material, bag small loose items and leave heavy pieces where they can be inspected. A safe path matters more than making one enormous pile.
Contain the small material
Loose hardware, paper and lightweight household items slow down loading and can scatter across a driveway. Use sturdy bags or boxes that can be lifted without tearing. Do not overfill containers until the handles or bottom fail.
Keep bulky pieces accessible
Do not bury a dresser, cabinet or exercise machine behind bags. Large pieces may need measuring, partial disassembly or a different route through the garage.
Separate what needs another disposal route
Set aside chemicals, paint, batteries, fuel, propane cylinders and unknown liquids. The City of Redlands lists hazardous and electronic waste separately from ordinary bulky-item collection. Keep products in their original containers and follow the current city instructions.
Check the loading approach
Move cars from the driveway, unlock the side gate and keep pets inside. If the only approach is an alley or shared drive, explain its width and parking limits before the visit.
Five photos that help
- A wide view from the open garage door
- The deepest part of the pile
- Every bulky or unusually heavy item
- The narrowest door, gate or turn
- The driveway or alley where loading would happen
Staging is optional. If sorting would require unsafe lifting or opening unknown containers, leave the material in place and describe it during the estimate call.
Source notes
Material restrictions and municipal options should be checked against the current City of Redlands solid-waste and household hazardous-waste guidance. Service scope is confirmed during the estimate call.
